This Integrated Care Board (ICB) holds and uses limited patient data for the purposes of Complaints and enquiries received under the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS).
We collect and store information that has been received directly from you or organisations in connection with your complaint or PALS enquiry. For patients known to our Continuing Healthcare, IFR or Medicines Management Teams, these may include the relevant Local Authority or GP Practices. For complaints or PALS enquiries about primary care, information may be received from dentists, pharmacy or ophthalmology services. Your consent will be sought if we need to contact and pass on your information to another organisation in relation to your complaint or PALS enquiry. The Integrated Care Board uses a system called Radar to store, log and track all information related to you complaints and PALS; Radar does not have direct access to any personal information.

Purpose of the processing
The ICB has a legal Obligation to provide the stated services.

The lawful justifications for the processing and possible sharing of this data are:
- Article 6(1)(e) – Public Task – processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest, or in the exercise of official authority invested in the controller.
- Article 9(2)(a) – Explicit Consent – the data subject has given explicit consent to the processing of those personal data for one or more specified purposes.
- Under the Common Law Duty of Confidentiality explicit consent is collected for the sharing of data.

Rights to object
You have the right to object to some or all the information being processed under Article 21 of the UK GDPR. Please contact the ICB. You should be aware that this is a right to raise an objection, which is not the same as having an absolute right to have your wishes granted in every circumstance.
Right to access and correct
You have the right to access any identifiable personal data that is being processed or shared and to have any inaccuracies corrected.
Retention period
The data will be retained for the period specified in the retention schedule found in the NHS Records Management Code of Practice.
