South west Londoners who have yet to get a Covid-19 booster jab are being urged to book an appointment before the offer ends.
People eligible for the spring booster vaccination, including over-75s and those who are immunosuppressed, have until Monday 16 June to book online. The final vaccinations for spring take place on Tuesday 17 June.
With less than two weeks to go, there are plenty of appointments available at sites across south west London and beyond – people can book a vaccination online or visit a walk-in venue.
Covid-19 continues to be serious for those most at risk, particularly older people and those with weakened immune systems, so if you have not yet taken up the offer, please make sure you do as there isn’t long left.
Local GP and Medical Director Dr Nicola Jones
The Covid-19 vaccine provides vital protection against different strains of the virus, reducing the risk of serious illness and hospitalisation, and local GP and Medical Director Dr Nicola Jones is calling on eligible people to have it as soon as possible.
Dr Jones said: “Covid-19 continues to be serious for those most at risk, particularly older people and those with weakened immune systems, so if you have not yet taken up the offer, please make sure you do as there isn’t long left.
“Previous immunity can wane over time, so it is important to top up your protection, not just for yourself, but for the family, friends and community around you.
“It couldn’t be easier to get your jab with clinics open across south west London – as well as using the national booking service you can also check online for one of our walk-in clinics that could be in a more convenient location for you.”
Croydon residents Natasha and Hervin shared their reasons for getting vaccinated.
Natasha said “I get my son vaccinated, from a very young age he’s had asthma, and getting sick can exacerbate his symptoms.”
Hervin, 72, added “I have cancer and diabetes. I want to protect myself, and my family.”
Those eligible can book their appointment now through the NHS website (www.nhs.uk/bookcovid), the NHS app or by calling 119.
As well as booked appointments, there are thousands of walk-in appointments available every day, with a full list of locations available on the NHS walk-in finder.
The Covid-19 vaccine is available for people if they:
- are aged 75 or over (including those who will be 75 by 17 June 2025)
- are aged 6 months to 74 years and have a weakened immune system because of a health condition or treatment
- live in a care home for older adults.
